At Pegasus Homes we examine the ESG risks and opportunities that affect and are relevant to our business, our teams and our communities, so that we can respond to them. But ESG is about more than what we do: when choosing suppliers, we make sure they hold the same principles and values that we do.
We’re stewards of both the natural and the built environment, so ‘environmental risks’ covers the company’s use of natural resources and the direct impact our operations have on these natural resources. From the point of where we acquire land to develop to a community becoming fully operational, right through our operational supply chain. But it’s also much more than this. It’s about choices we make every day, like the steps we take to reduce carbon emissions, actively choosing to build on brownfield sites rather than greenbelt, the way energy is generated and consumed. The choices we make can and do make a difference - together, we’re committed to making the right ones.
‘Social risks’ are about people, and can be shaped by our behaviour and the choices we make. Our people - both employees and customers - are integral to everything we do in achieving our goals. Investing in their physical, financial and mental wellbeing is vital to our success, and theirs. We put a lot of time and effort into creating measurable social value, which is the engine of positive change, within our workplaces, communities and the towns and villages where we’re located.
Understanding the governance risks and opportunities is vital to creating a company that stands the test of time. From the creation of a Board that has leadership accountability and oversight to policies and procedures to protect and support employees and customers and in making sustainable decisions such as where we invest our pensions.
