    Living in Dorking

    Known for its character and community, Dorking boasts an incredibly diverse range of shops, restaurants, fitness facilities and entertainment options, including cinema and theatre at Dorking Halls. The landscape of the Surrey Hills rises dramatically to the north of the town, making a stunning backdrop to the period streets and enticing you with many wonderful walking options. For days out, local country houses include Leith Hill Place - childhood home of composer Ralph Vaughan Williams - and Polesden Lacey, where the future King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother spent the first part of their 1923 honeymoon.

You are also just an easy walk to Deepdene Station, where services take you east to Gatwick Airport or west to Reading, and also Dorking Station, with regular trains to London in under an hour. To the north of the town lies the North Downs Way, an ancient route through Surrey to the Kent Coast at Dover, along one of England's most accessible trails.
