    Living in Wantage

    There’s loads on offer in terms of shopping, restaurants, cafés and pubs, plus excellent leisure and sports facilities. Wantage’s links with its past are very strong: you can visit the birthplace of King Alfred the Great, explore the ruins of Wantage Castle, or delve into local history at the Vale and Downland Museum. It’s also considered the gateway to the Ridgeway – an ancient route through downland, secluded valleys and woods with amazing views of the Vale of White Horse, that takes you through countless picturesque English country villages.

    On your doorstep

    In five minutes you can walk to all the shops and facilities that you need day-to-day. When you want to mix things up, buses run regularly to Oxford, Didcot, Abingdon, Faringdon and the surrounding villages. The nearest rail station is at Didcot, which is a fifteen minute drive. Services to London take roughly 45 minutes, and to Oxford only a quarter of an hour, while Junction 14 of the M4 is a 20-minute drive, due south.
