A guide to four of the best eateries in Wokingham

Giggling Squid

Hugely popular with owners is Giggling Squid, a contemporary Thai restaurant that serves small plates packed with flavour. Diners can feast on the likes of Pad Thai, seafood curries, beef noodles and more, plus there’s a selection of vegan options to cater to all tastes. Giggling Squid is open for dine in or takeaway.

Chalk

Opened in November 2020, Chalk is a contemporary British restaurant serving delicious meals in a homely setting. Set up by three friends, each brings a wealth of hospitality experience to ensure Chalk can offer the best dining possible. The restaurant is open from breakfast through until dinner so there’s plenty of dishes to try. If visiting at breakfast, be sure to get the truffled scrambled eggs on toasted sourdough, washed down with a fresh berry smoothie.

The Stables at Cantley

Located in the beautiful Cantley House Hotel, The Stables is a popular Wokingham restaurant which offers   high end food without the price tag. Diners can enjoy slow braised pork belly and charred sea bass as well as legendary Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. The Courtyard Garden is a great spot for a relaxing drink after a satisfying meal.

Brown Bag

Brown Bag is a cosy coffee shop on Wokingham’s high street, serving a range of freshly made sandwiches, wraps and paninis as well as cakes and croissants. The eco-friendly shop is committed to reducing its impact on the environment where possible and have systems in place for food waste and coffee grounds recycling, as well as water saving devices in the kitchen and bathrooms. Food is best enjoyed alongside one of their milkshakes or legendary hot chocolates, topped with marshmallows and whipped cream.
