The neighbouring villages of Sandhurst and Crowthorne are both close-knit village communities, well known for the Royal Military Academy and Wellington College respectively. But there is more to both than just world-famous institutions, and we’re looking at some of the reasons why living in the area is a great choice.

Community-minded

The villages encourage a great sense of community, hosting regular events and providing entertainment and fun for their residents. The annual May Fair offers stalls and activities for everyone, while the biennial Crowthorne Carnival brings the villages together in celebration as schools and organisations show off their creativity in a themed procession of floats.

During the festive season, the villages host a special Christmas shopping night, where shops stay open late and children can visit Father Christmas in his grotto before the big day.

Surrounded by outstanding countryside

If you are a keen walker, or just enjoy exploring the countryside, then Sandhurst and Crowthorne is where it’s at. Both are nestled in the heart of some stunning rural areas and parks which include Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) like Sandhurst to Owlsmoor Bogs and Heaths, or the beautiful nature reserve of Edgbarrow Woods. To the north of Crowthorne is Heath Lake, also a SSSI. All are home to an array of wildlife ranging from butterflies to moths, to woodlarks and adders, along with a variety of wildflowers. Wildmoor Heath also offers guided walks to take a closer look at the rare heathland habitat.

Shopping to suit all

The Meadows in Sandhurst offers some fantastic local retail therapy and all under cover, while Crowthorne has a bustling high street with a great selection of independent shops, pubs, cafes and boutiques. Nearby, Bracknell opened a fabulous new shopping centre in 2017, The Lexicon, with a cinema and a roof top wine bar at Fenwicks department store. A little further afield in Wokingham is Holme Grange Craft Village, a treasure trove of independent shops and craft workshops. Or, you can travel just half an hour away to The Oracle in Reading, offering high street shopping along the riverside.

Great places to visit

From Windsor Great Park to Wentworth Golf Course and Ascot Racecourse, the area is home to some world famous places to visit, so life at Fleur-de-Lis Sandhurst and Fleur-de-Lis Crowthorne will never be dull, whether it’s a day at the races or making the most of all that Windsor Great Park has to offer.

Well connected

Both Sandhurst and Crowthorne have well connected rail links if you fancy venturing further afield. Trains from both will take you to Reading and on to London for the culture and attractions on offer. From Sandhurst, you can head into Guildford for shopping and sightseeing, or off to Gatwick or Heathrow Airports, taking you to an array of holiday destinations.
