Westminster

SW1 is the heart of the Capital and offers London’s typically diverse range of things to do, from the quirky to the traditional to the cultured to the luxurious.

As Westminster, along with the rest of London, starts to reopen, we look at a few of the highlights that local residents and visitors can look forward to enjoying in the coming weeks:

Strutton Ground Market

A bustling street market a short distance from our Chimes development, the stalls entice many of the local residents as well as workers and tourists. The market operates on weekdays between 8am and 6pm on the narrow cobbled Strutton Ground between Victoria Street and Greycoat Place. A fun and vibrant London street market selling food, groceries, books and clothing and is famed for the “Flatcap” Coffee Stall.

The Cinnamon Club

The beautiful dining room of The Cinnamon Club makes this institution in the world of Indian fine dining worth the visit alone. Set in the historic Grade II listed former Westminster Library it is the original modern Indian restaurant in London serving innovative and creative cuisine in a magnificent and historic setting. Whilst they offer a click & collect service, there is nothing quite like experiencing one of Vivek Singh’s delectable new menu in the splendour of a unique dining room.

The English Rose Café and Tea Shop

For a quintessential English tradition pop to the independent family run café on Lower Grosvenor Place and enjoy a mouth-watering piece of cake and cup of tea in a wonderfully vintage award-winning café. There is also a hearty breakfast menu or go the full nine yards with a traditional Afternoon Tea, finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and jam and a pot of tea. The only question is do follow the Cornish method (jam first) or the Devonshire method (clotted cream first). Notably the Cornish method is used in London.

Cocktail Bar at The Goring

It does not get more exquisite than a cocktail in The Goring Cocktail Bar using over one hundred herbs taken from The Goring Garden. It is advisable to book a table, especially after 9pm, to enjoy one of their signature classics or old favourites from the Rosehip Royale to The Goring Cup. Sophisticated and tempting cocktails to indulge yourself in elegant Edwardian surroundings. The 110 year old Goring is possibly one of London’s finest and historic hotels, where amongst other heads of state, Winston Churchill held meetings with allied leaders during World War II.

Tate Britain

The home of British art from 1500 to the present day is open again from Monday to Sunday 10am to 6pm. Entry remains free for everyone and all visitors, including members need to book a timed ticket online before visiting. Visitors can either follow one of the collection routes or enjoy one of the many exhibitions. There is a last chance to see the Aubrey Beardsley which has been extended until 20th September or book now for upcoming exhibitions Lynette Yiadom-Boakye or Turner’s Modern World
