Our wonderful Holmwood development is lucky enough to call Brockenhurst home. With this beautiful corner of the National New Forest Park, you have the fantastic opportunity to explore what the area has to offer this summer bank holiday.
From lazy afternoon picnics with the New Forest ponies (though please don’t feed them!) to delightful evening drinks at the gorgeous Lime Wood Hotel, it is certainly worth getting acquainted with the Forest this weekend.
To make sure you don’t miss out, read on to discover our top picks this bank holiday.
Picnic at Roydon Woods Nature Reserve
Roydon Woods nature reserve is an impressive patchwork of wildlife rich areas, including grassy meadows and ancient copses of conifer and hazel, perfect for settling down for a picnic in the sunshine.
The reserve also has plenty of marked walking trails if you are feeling a little more adventurous and you will be sure to come across some of the famous New Forest locals – the wild ponies!
Afternoon Tea at Lime Wood
What could be a better way to spend your bank holiday weekend than enjoying an Afternoon Tea in the gorgeous restaurant at Lime Wood House. The full Afternoon Tea includes a delicious selection of finger sandwiches, sticky eclairs, homemade scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam with your choice of tea. Or if you fancy something slightly less traditional, why not try their G&Tea, a special gin from their head bartender’s selection paired to your tastes.
Once you are done with your meal, you can walk it off by exploring the expansive grounds and gardens around the house, including the secret greenhouse.
Forest Cycle Ride
Brockenhurst and the surrounding areas in the New Forest are well known for having some of the best cycle tracks in the South of England. This summer bank holiday why not saddle up and take a leisurely bike ride through some of England’s most beautiful countryside?
At Cycle Experience you can pre-book your hired bikes, ready for your arrival in Brockenhurst. From here you can explore the many cycle paths leading out of the village and come to a world where wild ponies, donkeys, highland cattle and deer roam free. And of course, plan in a pub pit stop or two along the way!
