Tony and Pam moved to Renaissance Marlborough a year ago; in order to downsize in comfort and style, whilst being able to make the most of their new home, and the picturesque surrounding area.
As Tony explains: “We considered several developers and developments as part of our new home search; but Renaissance really stood out to us, in large part due to the superior quality of the finishes to the homes. The interior décor is also very similar to what we would have chosen ourselves, which was a bonus.”
The couple made the move from Wantage in South Oxfordshire, where they were living in a four-bedroom detached house, to their current two bed apartment at Renaissance Marlborough: “We did consider the Renaissance Wantage development, as we knew the area so well, but Wantage is very popular and rapidly expanding. We are both still very active, but the size of Marlborough suited us better, and we were also familiar with this area too, with one of our sons living nearby. Another key factor for us were the mezzanine apartments on offer at Marlborough, which are quite unique and sealed the deal for us.
“Having been retired for 18 years, we wanted to make the move whilst we were still able to enjoy our new surroundings, and to benefit from someone else maintaining the garden! Having an on-site Lifehost and people to take care of the general running is also reassuring. When open, the shared lounge provides a comfortable, sociable, space to relax with a coffee, without having to venture far from home.”
The couple have been enjoying making the most of the idyllic rural location: “There are some lovely walks nearby, particularly around the river. There’s also the forest up the road, and we are on the edge of the North Wessex Downs, which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Being just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Marlborough means that everything we need day to day is on our doorstep.”
Whilst the strong community within Renaissance Marlborough wasn’t a principal consideration for the couple when making their move, it has certainly proved to be a pleasant addition of the development: “It’s great that there is as much privacy as you want here, whilst there is still plenty going on for people to get involved in; particularly for those who have moved here on their own. In the communal lounge there has previously been weekly coffee mornings, wine evenings and games organised by the community.”
Based on the site of the former Old Yard, in the heart of the historic market town, the Renaissance Marlborough community enjoys the perfect mix of countryside and a thriving neighbourhood. Views of the quaint English bowls club from the homes sets the tone for the relaxed and welcoming environment which awaits homeowners and rental members. In the vibrant town, there is much on offer besides the history and shopping, including Literature Festival and Open Studios where local artists exhibit.
